Weeding bonanza!

Well a compact and bijou group of us arrived this morning determined to eliminate the rascally weeds which were threatening to take over. Forks and hoes swung into action all across the garden, followed by mulching the worst areas to future proof it all. Gillian disappeared behind the log cabin with the mystery donation of artichokes only re-emerging at coffee time: Lovely hot cross buns and coffee in the sunshine what more could you ask? the daffys got dead headed some sweet peas were planted and the new perennials settled into their new homes, Arrh bless them. Mikes family appeared, said many encouraging words and then were on their way. All in all a satisfying mornings work. Roll on the 20th May for the big willow workout!

I am sure the daffodils felt better for their haircut

Jack by the hedge...

Well we have to do the old before and after photos of our friend garlic mustard or Jack by the hedge (Alliaria petiolata if you want to get posh) You can actually eat it and it's a foragers dream, but I think even if the entire congregation were passionate about eating it they'd soon get bored as we have much of the stuff here it is a product of newly cultivated areas - anyway here we go
Before....
And After.....
